Ancient Jews were looking for a King to lead them out of their troubles and to fight all the enemies for them. They longed for peace, the whole family back together in Jerusalem and to be saved from their earthly enemies.
God will save the people, not with a warrior king, but with a humble king who proclaims peace (speaks peace into existence, like He did at creation). We will be the jewels in His crown!
