Trading My Sorrows!

Scripture:  2 Corinthians 4-2 Corinthians 6

Observation:  I have LOVED reading the CEV for this study, but today the translation let me down.  Now, I'm sure its a great translation, but the words just weren't what I wanted.
The words I wanted were (4:8-9) "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed" But what I got was, "8We often suffer, but we are never crushed. Even when we don't know what to do, we never give up. 9In times of trouble, God is with us, and when we are knocked down, we get up again."

Application:  Are you feeling abandoned?  Crushed?  Persecuted?  Paul tells you there's hope!  That we are simply treasures in clay jars.  That when your body hurts, know the God inside of you is still strong!  What a lovely passage of scripture (no matter the translation.)

Prayer:  I could write more, but instead you should just follow this link.  Its one of my favorite songs, taken directly from these verses.  He even begins in Spanish!  Have a praise break today and thank God for all the good in your life!  It'll be a great prayer for today!!

Blessings!
Pastor Emily

We do have this song on our books; Danny is not a fan of it, but I'm going to try to convince him otherwise. I think we can make it a Crossroads' song that will last in the long run. Pray for me! :)

4:4 says the god of this age (Satan) blinds our minds. But 4:16 says don't lose heart. Our inward "man" is beind renewed every day! Are we walking by faith and not by sight? I surely could use some work in this area. Chapter 6:17 told me something I need to hear quite often...I need to come out and be separate, not from contact with the evils of the world but from conformity to them). In a world that preaches conformity, this is difficult but with God all things are possible! Loved the song too Emily!

We have treasure in these clay jars to show for Jesus. Another let your light shine idea.
But 6:14 says don't be yoked with unbelievers. I understand that I don't need to get "joined together" with unbelievers, but how do I let my light shine if I "come out from them and be separate" like it says in 6:17. My problem with my childhood church and private schools/home schooling.
