Being Teachable

Scripture--John 16-John 18

Observation--This is such a powerful section—the trial before Pilate, the expanded section in the garden with Peter cutting off Malchus’s ear, Jesus praying for the disciples and for us!  But the verse that stuck out to me was, 16:12, “I have much more to say to you, but right now it would be more than you could understand.”  Jesus says that the Holy Spirit (Spirit of Truth) will come and reveal things to us that even Jesus couldn’t!

Application—What new things are you letting the Spirit teach you?  How are you growing in your faith?  Too often, we get stuck in our faith, stuck in our rut, and we forget the Spirit is working in us, with us, giving us new truths. Let us today learn what new things God is trying to teach us!

Prayer—Spirit of Truth—fall afresh on us!  Spirit of Life—Open our eyes so we can see!  Spirit of Love—Open our hearts to your leadings!  Oh, thanks be to you, Creator, Savior, Spirit!  Amen.

Blessings!

Reading scripture in preparing to write my daily devotions has certainly pulled me from my spiritual rut! I truly can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit within me, guiding and changing me for the better, each and every day.
Thanks be to God!

The poor disciples still don't understand. The Spirit of Truth came to guide them and help them understand the scriptures. The Spirit of Truth will guide us too and help us understand the scriptures.
Jesus prays for us-1. that we be completely united. 2. that we be with Him to see Him in his glory (heaven) and 3. That love be in us.
Amen!
As the soldiers arrest Him, Jesus knocks them flat by saying "I am he," using the Yahweh word for God. Then as they get up He tells the soldiers to let the disciples go and no one else is taken. John was right to call Jesus the Word in the beginning of his book.

I know the Holy Spirit is revealing new meanings to me each time I read the Scriptures. This reading had so many assurances for me. 16:13 "the Spirit will guide you into all truth". 16:24 "Ask and you will receive that your joy may be full". 16:32 "I am not alone because the Father is with me". and 16:33 "Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world"! We know the end, yet still I can sometimes forget. Thank you God for wanting us to have joy overflowing in our heart so through this we can glorify You.
