Fear

Psalm 111 ends, and Psalm 112 begins by admonishing us to fear the Lord.

"The fear of the Lord is wisdom," the Psalmist writes, "all who practice it have good understanding."

But what does that mean?  What does it mean to fear the Lord.

Sometiems, I fear that our understanding of God--my understanding of God--sometimes gets too friendly.  I talk to God like a friend instead of like my Lord, my parent, my everything.

What would you be better able to understand if you feared the Lord?  What would be different?

Blessings--

"Fear of the Lord" means we have an attitude of reverence which helps us obey God's law. 111:10 says that it is wise to obey God rather than following our own opinions or knowledge. So fearing God makes us happy to obey Him, rather than making obeying the law a burden.
